What NOT to pack on your next RV trip
What NOT to pack on your next RV trip
It’s so easy to overpack your RV, only to find your space cluttered and weighed down with unnecessary belongings. Here is what to leave behind.
Heavy, breakable dishes
Heavy and breakable dishes and glassware add weight and break in transit. Melamine or acrylic gives you the look without either problem.
Firewood
It seems economical, but moving firewood between regions spreads invasive pests. Buy it where you burn it.
Anything restricted at the border
Check before you cross into the United States. Firewood can’t come with you, and all fruits, vegetables, plants and plant material of any type must be declared and inspected. Do the grocery shop on the other side.
Excess kitchen equipment
An RV kitchen is small. Bring multipurpose, minimal gear rather than the contents of the one at home, and plan simple meals with some ingredients prepped in advance.
Your entire wardrobe
Pack to the forecast and the plan, with extra warm layers, and choose clothes that mix and match so a few items make a lot of outfits.
