Tips for a Better Sleep in your RV
Get the rest you need on the road and at the campsite with these tips for a better night’s sleep in your RV.
Layouts matter
When you’re choosing an RV, think about how the sleeping arrangement works at bedtime and first thing in the morning. If you don’t want to be up at dawn, a bedroom with a door beats an open floor plan. A separate bunkroom, or bunks with curtains, gives the children somewhere quiet to go earlier.
Keep seasonal bedding
Cool cotton sheets and lightweight comforters for summer; cosy flannel sheets with heavy throw blankets when it turns.
Upgrade your mattress
Waking up stiff or sore means it is time, especially in a pre-owned unit. The RV Traveler’s Choice mattresses are built from durable, high density posturized foam — come and lie on one.
Bring comforts of home
Familiar pillows, blankets and stuffed animals do a lot for bedtime when you’re travelling with children.
Keep things level and stable
A properly levelled RV doesn’t move when somebody rolls over or gets up in the night — see How to Stabilize your RV.
Choose a quiet site
Away from the main road and away from the communal areas.
Mind the mattress size
RV mattress sizes vary. If you’re tall, watch for a short queen — usually 5 inches shorter than a household one, which is exactly enough for your feet to hang off.
Keep your RV dark
Blackout blinds or window coverings stop the sunrise deciding when you get up.
