EXPLORING THE RV LIFESTYLE
NEW OR USED
So, you’re ready to start enjoying the RV’ing lifestyle! That’s Awesome! Now you’ve got to think of the inevitable: Do I buy a NEW or USED RV?
The biggest advantage to buying a used RV is price. You’re going to get a lot more bang for your buck. On the other hand, a new RV can come with affordable financing options, manufacturers warranty coverages, and will have all the latest features.
Ask yourself the following questions when considering buying a USED RV:
- How old is the unit, and how has it been stored and maintained?
- What is its condition inside and out — roof, seals, appliances, tires and brakes?
- What you’re trying to determine is if there are additional repairs required, and what does that look like from a cost perspective.
- Is there any remaining manufacturer’s warranty, and can an extended service contract be added?
Buying is not your only option!
Many RV dealers allow you the option of renting an RV. It is a good way to find out what you like before you commit — see Buy or Rent.
